Additionally, wrist injuries or anatomical factors, such as having a smaller carpal tunnel, can also increase the risk of developing this condition.

In some cases, imaging tests such as an X-ray or MRI may be ordered to rule out other potential causes of the symptoms. Treatment options for carpal tunnel syndrome may include rest and activity modification, wearing a splint to keep the wrist in a neutral position, or undergoing physical therapy to strengthen the muscles in the hand and wrist. In some cases, a healthcare provider may recommend corticosteroid injections to reduce inflammation and alleviate symptoms.
